Bernice Allan lives at Moorooka in Brisbane. Born in 1934, she received her education at Sherwood Primary School, the Brisbane Girls Grammar School, Kelvin Grove College of Advanced Education and the University of Queensland obtaining a B.A., Dip. Teaching (Secondary Music), A.Mus.A., A.T.C.L., L.T.C.L. and F.T.C.L. along the way. For many years Bernice was a teacher of classroom music at Yeronga State High and Sunnybank State High Schools, and at present she teaches piano.
Bernice is co-author with Ian Dorricott of the popular secondary music textbook series, In Tune with Music Books 1,2 and 3. They also successfully collaborated for Music, A Creative Approach, Books 1 and 2 and Exploring Film Music.
Retirement for Bernice means writing music text books, arranging music, teaching piano, accompanying instrumental students at their music exams, playing the church organ, visiting her children and grandchildren and maintaining her fitness at the gym.
