A glam rock tribute play, Sequinned Suits and Platform Boots affectionately recalls the glittering fun, flamboyant music and fashion of the 70’s through one teenage boy’s simultaneous ambitions to be a rock star (The Starman) and to woo local girl of his dreams, Lorraine Izoff.

The music of David Bowie, T-Rex, Suzi Quatro, Roxy Music, Slade, Mott the Hoople, The Sweet, Alice Cooper and Mud provides the upbeat nostalgic soundtrack. Featured on David Bowie’s own website news page, Sequinned Suits and Platform Boots is clearly embraced by All the Young Dudes!

It proved a big hit with audiences at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Ideal for use in One Act Play Festivals and school productions here is a lively and colourful production, with fantastic opportunities for both wardrobe and performers. A feel good play with the atmosphere of a musical - perfect material for teens and any theatre group with members who are fans of early seventies music. Parents (and grandparents!) will relate to and really enjoy it! In the original production, every appearance of The Blockbuster elicited shrieks of delight!

So…Bang a Gong, Get it On… and get a script!

Maverick are also releasing this play as a shortened version (30 mins) and under a different title:

The Rise and Fall Of Eed Sud and The Luminous Earwigs… from Thornbury

especially for any drama group seeking a shorter running time and more importantly, for UK Drama teachers seeking a board approved examination piece for their students. Rise And Fall is an already successful performance piece for the UK GCSE examinations (Paper 2 in Edexcel's GCSE) and seems to be a play that examiners really appreciate; in the two years it has been used the candidates playing the main parts have achieved maximum marks! In this exam format, it also has excellent opportunities not only the actors but those wishing to take on the required performance support (technical) roles.

Request the Eed Sud version if this better suits your requirements.
